Biography

Franui, a ten-member music ensemble from Innervillgraten, Austria, was founded in 1993 by Andreas Schett. The group is known for its repertoire that includes original compositions alongside arrangements of works by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Gustav Mahler, and Johannes Brahms. Initially performing as a house band at the Villgrater Kulturwiese, Franui gained traction through festival appearances in the mid-1990s. Their breakthrough came with the release of Ende vom Lied in 2005, which won the German Record Critics' Award. The ensemble has since performed at prestigious venues such as the Ruhrtriennale and Bregenzer Festspiele. Franui's discography includes albums such as Schubertlieder (2007), Mahlerlieder (2011), and Ständchen der Dinge (2018). The group has received multiple awards, including the Annual Award of the German Record Critics' Association for the album Ständchen der Dinge in 2018.
