Forteresse, a black metal band from Quebec City, Canada, was formed in 2006 by Moribond and Athros. The group's debut album, Métal Noir Québécois, released in 2006, marked their entry into the music scene with six tracks focusing on Quebec nationalism rather than traditional black metal themes like satanism. In 2008, Forteresse released their second album, Les Hivers De Notre Ãpoque, followed by Par Hauts Bois Et Vastes Plaines in 2010 and Crépuscule D'Octobre in 2011. After a five-year hiatus, the band returned with Thèmes Pour La Rébellion, celebrating Quebec's patriotic resistance against British colonialism. That same year, Metal Insider ranked Forteresse second in their list of the top five Canadian black metal bands. The band's music often incorporates traditional Quebec instruments and samples, reflecting themes of Quebec's history, identity, landscapes, and atmosphere.
