Biography
John Carson, known as "Fiddlin'" John Carson, was born on March 23, 1868, near McCaysville in Fannin County, Georgia. He began performing publicly after losing his job at a cotton mill due to a strike in 1914. Carson's breakthrough came in June 1923 with the release of "The Little Old Log Cabin in the Lane" and "The Old Hen Cackled and the Rooster's Going To Crow" for Okeh Records, which sold out quickly. He released several albums, including Fiddlin John Carson Vol. 1 1923 - 1924 and collaborated with his daughter Rosa Lee Carson, known as Moonshine Kate. Notable songs include "You Will Never Miss Your Mother Until She Is Gone" and "Old Joe Clark", both of which sold over one million copies. He continued to perform and record until his death on December 11, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia.
