FermÃn IV Caballero Elizondo, born on December 22, 1974, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, began his music career in the early 1990s as part of the local rock group Prófuga del Metate before co-founding the groundbreaking hip-hop trio Control Machete in 1995, alongside DJ Toy Selectah and Pato Machete. The group made an explosive debut with Mucho Barato in 1996, featuring the anthem âComprendes Mendes,â and followed up with ArtillerÃa Pesada presenta in 1999, which included the hit âSà señorâ and earned major recognition across Latin America. In 2000, FermÃn IV left Control Machete after contributing âDe Perros Amoresâ to the Amores perros film soundtrack and launched a solo career with Boomerang in 2002, which featured the single â004â and earned him two Arpa Awards. Embracing his Christian faith, he became a pastor in 2001 and shifted his musical direction with projects like Semilla de Mostaza Presenta (2001), Gracias (2003), FermÃn IV En Vivo (2004), and Los Que Trastornan al Mundo (2005). He continued bridging hip-hop and spirituality with projects like Hip Hop por la Vida and Dúos Con in 2008. After a hiatus, he returned with the EP Y Mi Vida Comenzó in 2014, followed by Odio/Amor in 2017, which included the track âFácil.â In 2019, he released the full-length album Decisiones, followed by the EPs Ya Puedes SonreÃr in 2022 and Ya Lo Vez in 2024, continuing to merge socially conscious lyrics with spiritual themes.
