Faustino Oramas Osorio, known professionally as El Guayabero, was born on June 4, 1911, in HolguÃn, Cuba. He began his musical career performing with the septeto La Tropical led by Benigno Mesa and later formed his own group. In 1938, he adopted the stage name El Guayabero. Oramas became known for cultivating traditional son montuno, characterized by its simple rhythm and humorous lyrics with double meanings. He released several albums including Sones del humor popular (1987), El Guayabero (1989), and El tren de la vida (2006). Oramas toured internationally, performing in Mexico during the Festival Cervantino and in Spain with Santiago Auserón of Radio Futura. He received numerous awards for his musical contributions to Cuban culture. Oramas passed away on March 27, 2007.
