Farina Pao Páucar Franco, known professionally as Fariana, is a Colombian singer, rapper, and songwriter who has been a trailblazer in the Latin urban music scene since her emergence in 2005. Born on September 16, 1986, in MedellÃn, she gained national attention as a finalist on Colombiaâs Factor X, becoming the first woman to introduce reggaeton to the countryâs mainstream. Her debut single, âSólo con Palabras,â a duet with Julio César Meza, marked her initial success. In 2012, she released her second studio album, Del Odio Al Amor, featuring standout tracks like âPongan Atenciónâ and âSoñar No Cuesta Nada.â Fariana's international profile expanded through collaborations with artists such as Ãengo Flow on âPum Pumâ (2013), J Ãlvarez on âJala Jalaâ (2015), and Bryant Myers on âSi Ellos Supieranâ (2016). Her partnership with Wyclef Jean led to tracks like âCasanovaâ and âParty Started,â and in 2017, she became the second Colombian artist signed to Jay-Zâs Roc Nation. That year, her single âMejor Que Yo?â achieved Top 10 status on Colombiaâs urban charts. In 2020, she collaborated with ThalÃa and SofÃa Reyes on âTick Tockâ and with Inna on âRead My Lips,â which charted in Romania. Her 2021 EP FloWres, created with Arcángel, included the Billboard-charting single âLa Boca.â Fariana received Latin Grammy nominations for âA Fuegoâ (2021) and âFreestyle 15â (2022). In 2022, she starred in the film Flow Calle and released hits like âBendecidoâ with El Alfa and âFiestaâ with Ryan Castro. In 2023, she collaborated with Sean Paul on âEl Vibeâ and was recognized by Billboard as one of the top 32 Spanish-speaking female rappers. Embracing a new artistic identity, she adopted the name Fariana in 2024 and released her third studio album, Underwater, which debuted at number 1 on iTunes Colombia.
