Led since 1986 by guitarist and singer Robert Hampson, London band Loop has revived space rock in the age of independent noise rock and shoegaze. Originally made up of James Endeacott (guitar), Glen Ray (bass) and Becky Stewart (drums), the trio underwent a number of changes with their respective replacements by Scott Dowson (1991), Neil Mackay (1988) and John Wills (1987). This first period saw the release of the compilation The World in Your Eyes (1987) and the cult albums Heaven's End (1987), Fade Out (1988) and A Gilded Eternity (1990). Also involved in other projects such as Main, Comae, Godflesh and Indicate, Hampson abandoned Loop for two decades before reforming Loop in 2013, with the musicians from the last configuration, replaced in turn by two musicians from The Heads, Hugo Morgan (bass) and Wayne Maskell (drums), supported by the arrival of a new guitarist, Dan Boyd. Back in the studio after several festival appearances, Loop recorded the EP Array 1 (2015), followed by the album Sonancy (2022). In 2025, Twelves is released as a limited-edition vinyl single or in conjunction with The World in Your Eyes.
