Biography

Erwan Keravec, born in 1974 in Auray, France, is a French musician known for playing the bagpipes. He began his musical journey with his brother Guénolé, initially performing with the bagpipe ensemble of Pluneret and later joining the Locoal-Mendon bagpipe band. A pivotal moment came in 1997 when he was invited to a concert by the Association à la Recherche d’un Folklore Imaginaire from Lyon, marking his first experience with improvisation. This led to further collaborations and performances, including tours with ARFI musicians in Brazil. Keravec founded Urban Pipes, releasing their debut album in 2007. He continued to innovate by forming Les Niou Bardophones, which explored Breton music and released an album in 2013. Notable collaborations include working with composers François Rossé, Susumu Yoshida, and Heiner Goebbels, as well as performing with artists like Beñat Achiary on the album Vox (2015).
