Ernesto Holman, born on December 6, 1950, in Viña del Mar, Chile, is a bassist and composer known for his work in the ethno-jazz subgenre. He began his musical journey studying the cello before transitioning to the bass guitar. Holman's career took off when he joined Congreso, a prominent Latin American fusion group, in 1980. With Congreso, he released notable albums including Viaje por la cresta del mundo (1981) and Ha llegado carta (1982). In 1987, Holman embarked on a solo career with the release of his debut album, Pájaro sobre las casas. He later explored electronic music inspired by Mapuche cosmology, releasing albums such as Ãamco (2003) and Al vuelo del ñamco (2005). His notable achievements include winning the Premio Altazor for Best Alternative/Jazz Album (2009) and the Pulsar Award for Instrumentalist of the Year (2022).
