Biography

Dredg is an American rock group formed in Los Gatos, California, in 1993, comprising vocalist Gavin Hayes, guitarist Mark Engles, bassist Drew Roulette and drummer Dino Campanella. The quartet began performing locally in the mid‑1990s, releasing the independent EP Conscious in 1996 and Orph in 1997, which showcased a rap‑core and nu‑metal sound that would later evolve. Their breakthrough came with the self‑released concept album Leitmotif in 1999, which attracted the attention of Interscope Records; the label remastered the album in 2001 and signed the band, enabling a national tour. Dredg’s major‑label debut, El Cielo, was issued in 2002, reaching the Billboard 200 and featuring singles such as "Same Ol' Road" and "Of The Room". In 2005, the group released Catch Without Arms, which peaked at Number 124 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Heatseekers chart, aided by the single "Bug Eyes". A live album, Live At The Fillmore, followed in 2006. After parting with Interscope in 2009, Dredg issued The Pariah, the Parrot, the Delusion through Independent Label Group, and Chuckles And Mr. Squeezy in 2011, the latter produced by Dan the Automator. The band continued touring and recording, maintaining a presence in the alternative‑rock scene without further charting releases.
