Dominik Wania, born November 24, 1981, in Sanok, Poland, is a pianist and composer who began his piano studies at age three. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Kraków in 2005 and received The Helena Foundation Presidential Scholarship to pursue a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Wania's debut album Ravel (2013) featured arrangements of Maurice Ravelâs Miroirs. He has collaborated with notable musicians including Marcus Miller and Lee Konitz, and his subsequent albums include Twilight for Solo Piano (2019) and Lonely Shadows (2020). Wania's achievements include winning the 7th International Contemporary Chamber Music Competition in Kraków in 2003, the 2nd Jazz Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2005, and receiving the Fryderyk Awards for Jazz Album of the Year, Jazz Artist of the Year, and Jazz Debut of the Year in 2014.
