Biography
Dmitry Badiarov, born July 1, 1969, in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria, is a Russian violinist and violin maker in the field of historical performance practice. He began violin studies at age eight and later studied modern violin in Leningrad. After military service, Badiarov studied Baroque violin with Sigiswald Kuijken and Peter Van Heyghen at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Since 1995, he has performed with ensembles like Il Fondamento and Les Talens Lyriques. In 2004, he reconstructed the Violoncello da Spalla, collaborating to refine its sound. Notable recordings include Bach's Solosuiten BWV 1007-1012 (2009), which won the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, and Cello Suites (2010).
