Dirk Schiefen, born on October 4, 1979, in Altenkirchen, Germany, is a trumpeter. He began playing the trumpet as a child and attended the Musikschule Hennef, where he was a member of the Blasorchester Buchholz. In 1992, Dirk Schiefen received the Herbert-Roth-Preis as the best young artist, followed by winning the Bundeswettbewerb Jugend musiziert as the top trumpeter in 1993. His breakthrough came in 1996 when he and panflute player Daniela de Santos represented Switzerland at the Grand Prix der Volksmusik with "Monte Cristallo", which won the competition. Dirk Schiefen concurrently pursued a solo career while studying at the Musikhochschule Aachen. His repertoire spans folk music, classical works like "Ave Maria", and international hits such as Frank Sinatra's "My Way".
