Digging Roots is a Canadian musical group formed in 2004, consisting of husband and wife duo Raven Kanatakta from Winneway, Quebec, and ShoShona Kish from the Batchewana First Nation in Northern Ontario. Their debut album Seeds was released in 2006 and nominated for the Aboriginal Album of the Year Juno Award at the Juno Awards of 2007. The duo followed with their second album We Are... in 2009, which featured collaborations with Tanya Tagaq, DJ Bear Witness of A Tribe Called Red, and Kinnie Starr, who also produced the album. We Are... won the Juno Award for Aboriginal Album of the Year in 2010. Their third album For the Light was released in 2014. In 2016, Digging Roots performed at the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival and the Ottawa Jazz Festival. The band's fourth studio album Zhawenim was released in 2022.
