Biography
Die Skeptiker, a German punk band, was founded in 1986 in East Berlin by drummer Marcel Hofer, guitarists Christoph Buntrock and Andreas Kupsch, bass player Andreas Welfle, and singer Eugen Balanskat. Their early work included self-released albums O.T. (1988) and Schreie (1989), which featured songs like "Deadmanstown" and "Alright my Boys". Die Skeptiker gained official recognition in East Germany through their promotional contract with the Free German Youth, leading to appearances on compilations such as Rock-Bilanz '89. After reunification, they released albums including Sauerei (1991) and Schwarze Boten (1993). The band underwent several lineup changes, notably with Balanskat continuing as the frontman. Die Skeptiker disbanded in 2000 but reunited for a tour in 2006, releasing Dada in Berlin (2007) and subsequent albums like Fressen und Moral (2009). Their music continues to be celebrated, with notable performances including the Force Attack festival.
