Biography

Born in New York, composer David Fleming studied at Purchase State University and began working in advertising, creating music for ringtones and brand clips. Awarded a BMI Foundation grant, he moved to Los Angeles and began a collaboration with Hans Zimmer and his company Remote Control Productions, composing with him the music for the Blue Planet II series (2017) and contributing to those for the films The Lion King (2019), Dune (2021) and Top Gun: Maverick (2022). The duo sign two more soundtracks for Hillbilly Elegy (2020), The Unforgivable (2021) and The Night Logan Woke Up (2022). In 2023, Fleming collaborated with Argentinian composer Gustavo Santaolalla on the soundtrack for The Last of Us series, a collaboration that continued through the seasons and episodes. The year 2024 saw the release of soundtracks for the films Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Jim Henson Idea Man, the latter retracing the career of the creator of The Muppets and earning Fleming two Emmy Award nominations. After scores for the films Damsel and The Alto Knights, the composer turned his attention to the Superman 2025 project, taking over from John Williams for James Gunn's feature film.
