Biography

Darts are a British rock 'n' roll revivalist band who rose to prominence in the late 1970s, celebrated for their energetic fusion of doo-wop harmonies and classic rock 'n' roll vibes. Formed in 1976 in Brighton, East Sussex, Darts quickly gained a reputation for revitalizing the sounds of 1950s rock with a contemporary twist, combining nostalgic melodies with exuberant showmanship. The group, originally led by frontman Den Hegarty, became known for their dynamic live performances, catchy covers of old-school hits, and their distinctive vocal arrangements. Darts enjoyed a string of chart successes between 1977 and 1979, including hits like "Daddy Cool/The Girl Can't Help It," "Come Back My Love," and "It's Raining," all of which reached the UK Top 10. Their upbeat, feel-good sound captured the essence of rock 'n' roll’s golden era while appealing to a new generation of listeners. Though primarily known for their covers, the band also composed original material that resonated with their retro aesthetic. Renowned for their charisma, tight-knit vocal harmonies, and a playful stage presence, Darts became a staple of the UK music scene in the late 1970s until their hiatus in 1985. In 2006, some of the original band members reunited and have played sporadically over subsequent years.
