Biography

Daniel Puente Encina, born in 1965 in Santiago de Chile, is a Chilean singer-songwriter and guitarist. He began teaching himself music at age four and received his first guitar lesson from his father on his twelfth birthday. In the mid-1980s, he founded the anti-fascist new wave/post-punk group Pinochet Boys, known for their provocative name and performances during Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship. The band released two cassette recordings before being forced to leave Chile in 1987. Encina relocated to Germany and later settled in Hamburg, where he formed Niños Con Bombas, a band active from 1994 to 1999 that won the "John Lennon Talent Award" in 1995. His solo career began with the blues-based album Disparo in 2012.
