Biography
Dale Warland, born April 14, 1932, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, is an American conductor and composer. He started his musical career at St. Olaf College, performing with choirs, and later served in the U.S. Air Force, forming a choir that performed for Vice President Richard Nixon. Warland earned degrees from the University of Minnesota and the University of Southern California. In 1972, he founded the Dale Warland Singers, which gained international acclaim for contemporary choral works. The group won multiple ASCAP awards and their album Walden Pond was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance in 2003. Warland disbanded the ensemble in 2004 to focus on teaching and composing, continuing to work with various choral groups. His notable releases include Bernstein & Britten (1999) and Hodie! (2019)
