Dakota Moon is an American band formed in Los Angeles, California, United States, in the mid-1990s. The group consisted of Ray Artis on bass guitar and vocals, Joe Dean on guitar and vocals, Malloy on percussion and vocals, and Ty Taylor on guitar and vocals. The members met during a recording session in Los Angeles and decided to form a full-time band after the successful session. They began touring the L.A. club circuit, honing their craft and building a local following before being signed by Elektra Records in 1997 under CEO Sylvia Rhone. Dakota Moon released their self-titled debut album Dakota Moon on April 14, 1998, which included the singles âA Promise I Makeâ and âAnother Day Goes Byâ, both of which charted on the Billboard charts. The band's unique blend of pop rock, country, and urban R&B resonated with audiences. They were hired to open for Hall & Oates and Tina Turner later that year, further expanding their reach. Their second studio album, A Place to Land, was released on February 19, 2002. This album continued to showcase the band's harmonious vocals and instrumental prowess, solidifying their place in the music scene. The band's music blended pop rock, country, and urban R&B, with all four members contributing vocals and instrumentation.
