Biography

Curtis Stigers – born in Boise, Idaho on October 18, 1965 – is a jazz and soft rock vocalist who is able to turn smooth, modern jazz ballads into radio friendly, coffee table pop hits. During his heyday in the 1990s, Curtis Stigers provided the soundtrack to sophisticated, candlelight smooching for couples everywhere. Raised in Boise, Idaho, he is a classically trained clarinetist and saxophonist. He was discovered performing with a jazz trio in New York and was signed to Arista Records, who released his 1991 single “I Wonder Why,” which hit the Top 10 in the US, UK, and Ireland . His self-titled debut album went on to reach multi-platinum status and his second single, “You're All That Matters To Me,” hit Number 6 in the UK charts. Curtis Stigers went on to collaborate with artists such as Eric Clapton, Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Bonnie Raitt. His second album, Time Was (1995), also fared well in the charts, but his popularity waned towards the end of the decade. Curtis Stigers moved away from pop-oriented material and turned to slower jazz styles on later albums You Inspire Me (2003) and I Think It's Going To Rain Today (2005). After recording nine albums for the Concord Jazz label, Curtis Stigers signed with EmArcy and released the albums Gentleman (2020) and This Life (2022).
