The trio that formed Commix in 2002-George Levings, Guy Brewer, and Conrad Whittle-released early 12âinch singles such as "Feel Something" (2003) and "Herbie" (2004) on independent labels including Aquasonic and Tangent Recordings. After Whittle departed, the duo signed to Goldieâs Metalheadz in 2005, where their track "Satellite Song" appeared on the Winter of Content compilation, and "Urban Legend" / "If I Should Fall" was issued as a 12âinch single. Commixâs debut album, Call To Mind, was issued on Metalheadz in 2007 to generally positive reviews, marking the second artist album on the label. The group continued to release singles such as "Be True" (2007) and "Generation 1" (2016), while producing remixes for artists including Bebel Gilberto, Adam F, and DJ Die. Brewer exited in 2012, leaving Levings as the sole member; Brewer subsequently released techno under the alias Shifted. In 2023, allegations of unpaid music tuition against George Levings led to Commixâs removal from Metalheadz and Hospital Records, and the community distanced itself from the name.
