Biography
Coltsblood, a death-doom and sludge band from Liverpool, England, was formed in 2010 by John and Jemma McNulty. The duo initially played together without a drummer, with John handling bass, vocals, and temporarily drums while Jemma contributed on guitar. In 2013, Steve Primeau joined as drummer, recording the demo Beyond the Lake of Madness (EP - 2013) and the split EP Coltsblood / Crypt Lurker (EP - 2013). Their debut album Into the Unfathomable Abyss (2014) received mostly average to poor reviews. The band's second album, Ascending into Shimmering Darkness (album - 2017), marked a significant rise in popularity and was widely praised for its atmospheric and emotional depth. Throughout their career, Coltsblood has collaborated with various artists, including Horse Latitudes, Ommadon, and Un, releasing split albums and live recordings such as Live in Helsinki. Jay Plested replaced Primeau on drums after 2013 and contributed to subsequent recordings and tours.
