Elsa Mazzetti, known professionally as Cocky Mazzetti, was born on February 28, 1937, in Milan, Italy. She began her musical journey studying piano and singing before making her official debut in 1955 with the group Menestrelli del Jazz ('Minstrels of Jazz'). Mazzetti adopted the stage name Cocky and achieved her first hit in 1961 with "Pepito," an Italian-language cover. Throughout the 1960s, she participated in notable musical events, including four editions of the Sanremo Music Festival, where she had a major hit in 1963 with Pino Donaggio's twist song "Giovane giovane". She also ranked third at the Festival di Napoli in 1962. Her success waned in the late 1960s, but she later joined the group Oldies in the early 1980s and appeared on Paolo Limiti's RAI nostalgia-themed music TV-shows between the late 1990s and early 2000s. Mazzetti passed away on March 20, 2024, at the age of 87.
