Clarence Joseph Garlow, born on February 27, 1911 in Welsh, Louisiana, was an American guitarist and singer known for his work in R&B, jump blues, Texas blues, and Cajun music. He started playing the fiddle as a child and later learned guitar and accordion, influenced by T-Bone Walker. Garlow's career began with recordings for Macy's Records in 1949, including his debut single "She's So Fine" backed with "Blues As You Like It". His breakthrough came with "Bon Ton Roula" (1950), which reached number 7 on the U.S. Billboard R&B chart in 1950. Following this success, he toured extensively and recorded multiple versions of the song for various labels. Garlow also collaborated with Clifton Chenier and worked as a DJ for KJET radio station in Beaumont until 1961. He died on July 24, 1986, in Beaumont.
