Biography
Classical pianist Claire-Marie Le Guay was born in Paris, France on June 13, 1974. At the age of 4, she began playing piano and began studying at the Paris Conservatoire a decade later. After completing her studies there, she continued training with a variety of teachers before she began entering international competitions, where she collected several first prizes including being voted Franceâs Young Musician of the Year in 1998. Claire-Marie Le Guayâs expansive repertoire includes baroque (Haydn), romantic (Schumann), modern (Ravel, Stravinsky) and contemporary classical music. She is well known for her interpretations of works by Dutilleux, Bartok, Carter, Thierry Escaich and Sofia Goubaidulina. Her recording career began in 1995 with the release of Liszt: 12 Etudes d'exécution transcendante. Sheâs released a series of critically acclaimed albums since her debut including Schumann: Kreisleriana Opus 16, Carnaval Opus (1997), Haydn â Mozart: L'Esprit Concertant (Oeuvres pour Piano) (2009), Liszt: Vertiges (Sonate, Ballade n° 2, Après une lecture de Dante) (2011), Bach: Italian Concerto, Chromatic Fantasie and Fugue (2015), and Liszt: Joies de l'Ãme (2021).
