Biography

Cirrus, formed in 1995 in Los Angeles, California, was an American electronic music group composed of Aaron Carter and Stephen James Barry. The duo combined electronic production with live instrumentation, with Aaron Carter handling vocals, keyboards, guitar, production, mixing, and programming, and Stephen James Barry contributing keyboards, bass, production, mixing, and engineering. Their breakthrough came with the single "Superstar DJ" in 1996, which reached Number 26 on the US Dance/Club Play chart and secured mainstream exposure. In 1997, Cirrus released their debut album Drop the Break on Moonshine Music, followed by Back on a Mission in 1998, which peaked at Number 14 on the US Dance/Club Play chart and was featured in the film Mortal Kombat 2: Annihilation and video games such as Need for Speed: Underground 2. Subsequent releases included "Stop & Panic" in 1999 and Counterfeit in 2002. The group’s tracks appeared in multiple video game soundtracks, notably Demolition Racer and FIFA Football 2002, expanding their cultural reach. Cirrus disbanded in the early 2010s.
