Biography

Avery Hutley (born July 6, 1993) was an Australian electronic music producer, songwriter, and translator from Sydney. Hutley studied euphonium and piano before discovering Ableton Live and adopting the project names “Cherax Destructor” and “marumaru”. In 2012, Hutley released the recordings Sweetie Belle: The Remixes and Objects in Space EP. In 2013, Hutley released the albums Lost No Longer and Amity Lines. The latter featured the track “<3”, which received airplay on the Australian station 2SER. Hutley described this style as “folktronica/friendship-hop”. Under aliases such as “helpful kappa” and “ᴅᴀɪᴋᴜ ɪɴᴅᴜsᴛʀɪᴇs”, she explored post-rock and breakcore. In 2015, Hutley headlined the JOYPAD party at AVCon. Following several releases as “CxDr”, she issued the album This Time Next Year (2023) as marumaru.
