Biography

Dutch DJ duo Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo comprised Charly Lownoise, born Ramon Roelofs on 16 June 1968, in The Hague, and Mental Theo, born Theo Nabuurs on 14 February 1965, in 's-Hertogenbosch, North Brabant, began their music career with the release of several singles and EPs. Their breakthrough came with the release of "Wonderful Days" in July 1994, which sampled Tony Ronald's "Help Get Me Some Help". The duo gained significant popularity for their happy hardcore tracks, including "Stars" released in July 1995, and "Live At London". They released their debut album, Charlottenburg, in 1995. The following year, they released the album Old School Hardcore under Polydor Records. The duo also produced gabber and Eurodance records. Their music was featured prominently at football matches, with the song "Revolution" playing after footballer AZ Alkmaar scores a goal at home. Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo played their final show in July 2022 at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.
