Biography

Ceann was an American rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formed in 1999 by Patrick Halloran and Marc Wisnosky while they were undergraduates at The University of Pittsburgh. Initially playing Irish pub tunes and original songs for a St. Patrick's Day party, the duo quickly expanded their repertoire to include pop hits. Their first album, Key’-anna ‘Ka-ka, was recorded in 2001 with James Telfer on bass and fiddle. The band gained traction performing across the northeast United States. The band shortened their name to Ceann in 2005 and released Almost Irish in 2006. Notable songs included "Pittsburgh Makes Me Drunk" and "The Sun is My Least Favorite Star", which appeared on the tribute album The Legend of Handsome Pat. Lead singer Patrick Halloran died in a car accident in 2011. Ceann's music blended Irish influences with contemporary themes.
