Biography
Carol Grimes, born April 7, 1944, is a British jazz singer-songwriter whose career has spanned jazz, progressive rock, and musical theatre. She first gained recognition as the lead vocalist of the band Delivery, appearing on its 1970 album Fools Meeting before embarking on a solo career. Her debut solo album, Warm Blood (1974), featured musicians from Area Code 615 and the Average White Band, while her self-titled follow-up was recorded in Memphis with the Brecker Brothers, Donald "Duck" Dunn, and The Memphis Horns. In 1984, Grimes formed the band Eyes Wide Open, later expanding her work into music education and musical theatre. During the 1990s, she collaborated with the choir The Shout. Her later releases include Sweet Fa (2000), Daydreams & Danger (2003), Mother (2003), Something Secret (2007), and CDAWN (2013).
