Carmen Villain (born 1983, in Michigan) is a Norwegian-Mexican musician and producer. Born Carmen Maria Hillestad, she established a career as a fashion model for brands including Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton before transitioning to music in 2005 while residing in London. Her recording career began with the self-produced debut album Sleeper (2013), released through Smalltown Supersound. Hillestad gained recognition for a sound evolving from guitar-driven shoegaze to ambient electronic music. Her discography included the albums Infinite Avenue (2017), which received a Spellemannprisen nomination, and the instrumental recording Both Lines Will Be Blue (2019). In 2022, she released the album Only Love From Now On, which featured collaborations with Arve Henriksen. Her musical repertoire included collaborations with artists such as Jenny Hval, Actress, and Huerco S. Hillestad established a reputation for self-producing and mixing her various studio recordings.
