Biography

The South Korean metalcore band Bursters formed in 2014 under the original name "Burstered." Based in Seoul, South Korea, bandmates Daegun Noh, Junyong Ahn, Gyejin Lee, Hwanhee Jo, and Taehee Jo made their public debut on the South Korean television series Superstar K 6, where their band became the first heavy metal act to finish the Superstar competition in the Top Six. One year after the show's completion, they release the debut EP Independent, which reached number 11 on the Gaon Album Chart. Despite this success, the record's only single, "Whenever You Call Me," failed to chart, and Bursters took a brief break from the limelight before returning in 2017 with a full-length album, Live in Hope. Released by Evermore Music, Live in Hope peaked at number 81 in South Korea. In March 2020, the group released a second album, Once And For All, which enjoyed commercial success at home as well as critical success abroad. Reaching number 60 on the Gaon charts, Once And For All expanded the group's audience in Britain, where the single "Barriers" became the first Korean release to appear on a playlist of the influential British publication Kerrang!. Once And For All eventually went gold in South Korea, making it the band's most successful release since Independent.
