Brooke Elizabeth White, born Juneâ¯2,â¯1983 in Phoenix, Arizona, is an American folkâpop singer who began performing in highâschool productions and moved to Losâ¯Angeles at nineteen to study briefly at the Musicians Institute before honing her craft in Hollywood clubs. She entered the public eye as the fifthâplace finalist on the seventh season of American Idol in 2008, where she performed a mix of covers and original material that showcased her pianoâaccompanied pop sensibilities. Brooke Elizabeth White released her debut independent album Songs from the Attic in 2005, followed by the studio album High Hopes & Heartbreak on Julyâ¯21,â¯2009, which included the singles "Hold Up My Heart" (Februaryâ¯25,â¯2009) and "Radio Radio" (Juneâ¯23,â¯2009). In 2011 she formed the duo Jack and White with Jack Matranga, releasing the EP Gemini and later the Winter EP in 2012; the duo also issued the cover collection Undercover. Brooke Elizabeth Whiteâs solo work continued with the Christmas album White Christmas (Novemberâ¯6,â¯2012) and the countryâstyled album Calico (Octoberâ¯4,â¯2019). Her collaborations have included Michael Johns on "Life Is Okay" and contributions to two television movies, Change of Plans (2011) and Banner 4th of July (2013).
