The Boston Modern Orchestra Project, founded in 1996 by artistic director Gil Rose in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, is a professional orchestra dedicated to contemporary orchestral music. In its first twelve seasons, the BMOP performed over 80 concerts, commissioned more than 20 works, and presented over 70 world premieres. The orchestra released nearly 50 CDs in total, performing regularly at Boston's Jordan Hall and major venues across the United States. Notable achievements include winning the ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming of Orchestral Music and being named Musical America's 2016 Ensemble of the Year. The BMOP launched its record label, BMOP/sound, in 2008 with John Harbison's ballet Ulysses, receiving two Grammy Award nominations in subsequent years.
