Biography

In 1995, Norwegian guitarist Øystein G. Brun forged a plan to form a black metal supergroup. He recruits members of Gorgoroth, Enslaved, Grim and Ulver. The new band released the album Borknagar in 1996. On Borknagar's debut, all the songs are still in Norwegian. On the follow-up The Olden Domain in 1997, the band switches to English. Borknagar gradually developed into Øystein G. Brun's band, as none of the other original members remained loyal to the project. As a result, Borknagar changes its musical style to more progressive metal and folk metal, less black metal. Origin from 2006 is even an acoustic album. Urd (2012) combines power and finesse to the delight of the Borknagar audience. The audience was thrilled when the band's former singer Kristoffer Rygg appeared on the long-awaited follow-up Winter Thrice (2016).
