Biography
The Finnish metal band Bodom After Midnight formed in Helsinki after the demise of the legendary Children of Bodom. From that best-selling group, lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Alexi Laiho and rhythm guitarist Daniel Freyberg joined forces with keyboard player Lauri Salomaa, Paradise Lost drummer Waltteri Väyrynen, and former Santa Cruz bassist Mitja Toivonen. Sadly, the sudden death of Alexi Laiho in December of 2020 quickly cut short the bandâs career. In February of 2021 the released the EP Paint the Sky with Blood, a three song set that included the title track, âPaybackâs a Bitchâ, and a cover of Dissectionâs âWhere Dead Angels Lieâ. The bandâs sound continued Children of Bodomâs signature brand of melodic speed metal, but Daniel Freyberg announced that the band would cease to continue after the death of Alexi Laiho (December 29, 2020) and that the EP contained absolutely everything the band had recorded to that point.
