BLACKSWAN, originally known as RANIA and later BP RANIA, is a South Korean girl group formed by DR Music in April 2011. The group initially debuted with seven members: Saem, Jooyi, Riko, Joy, Di, T-ae, and Xia. Their debut release was the EP Teddy Riley, the First Expansion in Asia, issued in April 2011 and featuring the single âDr. Feel Goodâ. The group faced controversies due to their provocative image but continued with subsequent releases such as âMasqueradeâ and âStyleâ. In March 2013, RANIA released their first studio album Just Go (Goodbyeâs the New Hello), which included the title track âJust Goâ. Plans for a U.S. debut were announced, but these were delayed multiple times due to various issues including member absences and label disputes. The group underwent several lineup changes, with members like Joy, Riko, and Saem leaving or taking breaks. In 2015, the group was rebranded as BP RANIA after Jooyi took a hiatus. On June 25, 2020, it was announced that the group would change their name to BLACKSWAN. Under this new moniker, they released the album Goodbye Rania on October 16, 2020. The current lineup consists of Fatou, Gabi, Sriya, and Nvee. Their most recent release, the single album That Karma, came out on May 19, 2023.
