William Chinnock, born November 12, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey, was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He led bands that included future members of the E Street Band in the late 1960s, such as the Downtown Tangiers Band and The Storytellers, with whom he released"Cry With Me" / "Little Boy Sad" in 1967. After recovering from illness, Chinnock moved to New York City before settling in Yarmouth, Maine. He signed with Paramount Records and released his debut album, Bill Chinnock Blues, in 1974. Subsequent albums included Badlands (1977) and Dime Store Heroes (1980). In 1987, he won an Emmy Award for his song "Somewhere in the Night", which was used as the theme on Search for Tomorrow. Chinnock passed away on March 7, 2007.
