Ben Lukas Boysen, born on 4 September 1981 in Oldenburg, West Germany, is a German electronic music composer based in Berlin, also known under the alias Hecq. He began formal music training at age seven, studying piano and classical guitar, which laid the foundation for his later work. In the early 2000s, he moved to Berlin and established Hecq Audio, releasing his first works under the alias Hecq in 2003. His early releases include A Dried Youth (2003) and the EP Sura (2010). In 2014, his track âSleepers Beat Themeâ was featured on Jon Hopkinsâ LateNightTales compilation, helping broaden his audience. He signed with Erased Tapes in 2016, releasing Gravity, Spells, and Mirage. His album Alta Ripa, released in 2024, reflects on his youth.
