Biography
Bec Abbot, born in Canada in 1971, is a singer known for her work in Contemporary Christian Music and pop. She began singing publicly at her father's church and later performed at local churches and events during high school. In 1997, vocal coach Elaine Overholt introduced Bec Abbot to Juno-nominated singer-songwriter Blaise Pascal, leading to back-up vocals for Pascal. Bec Abbot's debut album Shine Like Stars was released in 2003 and received a nomination for the Juno Award for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year. Her second album, Not So Hip, was released in late 2005. Notable songs include "Thrive" which won Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year in 2004 and "Not So Hip," co-written with Carolyn Arends, which won the same award in 2006.
