Balaam And The Angel, a Scottish rock band, was formed in Cannock, England, in 1984 by brothers Mark Morris on vocals and bass, James (Jim) Morris on guitar and keyboards, and Desmond (Des) Morris on drums. The trio had previously worked as part of a cabaret act in Motherwell, Scotland. Their initial releases included self-released EPs and the album Sun Family via their own Chapter 22 label. These early efforts caught the attention of Virgin Records, who signed them and released their debut album, The Greatest Story Ever Told, which peaked at Number 67 in the UK Albums Chart in August 1986. The band toured extensively, including performances in the United States with acts such as The Mission, Kiss, and Iggy Pop. In 1988, Ian McKean joined as a second guitarist, marking a shift towards hard rock from their initial gothic rock style. Notable albums during this period include Live Free or Die and Days of Madness. Their song "I'll Show You Something Special" was featured on the soundtrack for the film Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Despite these achievements, Balaam And The Angel disbanded in 1989. But reunited in 1991 and performed sporadically over the years. In 2024, they celebrated the 40th anniversary of their first EP with the Forces Of Evil release.
