Biography
Bachir Attar, born in 1964 in Jajouka, Morocco, is a Moroccan musician and singer. He succeeded his father, Hadj Abdesalam Attar, as leader of The Master Musicians of Jajouka, a group that includes his brothers and other family members. In 1990, Attar received a Music Composition Fellowship from The New York Foundation for the Arts. He released his solo album The Next Dream in 1992. Throughout his career, Attar has collaborated with notable artists such as Ornette Coleman, Patti Smith, and Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The Master Musicians of Jajouka led by Bachir Attar have performed on soundtracks for films including The Cell and William S. Burroughs: A Man Within.
