Harjeet Singh Sehgal, known professionally as Baba Sehgal, was born on November 23, 1965, in Lucknow, India. He is a rapper and singer widely recognized as one of the pioneers of Indian hip-hop. Sehgal graduated with a B.Tech from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology before embarking on his entertainment career in the 1990s. His breakthrough came with the release of "Thanda Thanda Paani" (1992), which sampled Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby", making it one of the first successful Indian rap albums, selling five million cassettes. Sehgal released numerous albums including Dilruba (1990) and Alibaba (1991). He also ventured into acting, making his debut in the Bollywood film Miss 420. Notable songs include "Tora Tora" and "Hindustani MNM".
