Biography
Having arrived in France at the age of five, Assia spent no less than twelve years at the classical conservatoire. It was in 1998 that her song "Dir Ghini" attracted attention, appearing on the soundtrack of the film Taxi. Assia's next hit was "Elle est à toi", which reached No. 3 in the charts in 2000. Varied and original, the album Chercheuse D'or (Gold Seeker ) failed to top the sales charts beyond forty-seventh place in 2000. She then lost her way in 2002, taking part in the musical Cindy (modern-day Cinderella). Her 2005 album, Encore et Encore, showed a clear downturn, with more calibrated music and disappointing sales, sanctioned by just seven weeks on the charts.
