Biography

Japanese singer Asaka was born on October 7, 1999 in Nagoya, Japan. At the age of three, her family relocated to Michigan, U.S.A, where she resided for five years. During her time in America, Asaka developed a passion for anime, and upon her return to Japan, decided to pursue a career as an anison singer. Before her official debut, Asaka actively participated in various competitions, winning a singing contest in Chubu in 2014. In 2016, she made her debut with the single "Open Your Eyes," which served as the ending theme for the anime series Occultic;Nine. Subsequently, Asaka released several singles, including "Edelweiss" (2017), "Play the game" (2017), and "Shiny Days" (2018), which were used as theme songs for various anime series and in 2019, she released the mini-album 19Box and contributed to the soundtrack YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World. Throughout the following years, Asaka unveiled popular singles such as "I believe what you said" (2020), "Seize the Day" (2021), and "Believe Myself" (2021). In 2021, she released her second album, Pontoon, while providing theme songs for anime series like Shikizakura and She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man. In 2022, Asaka released singles like "Sun Is Coming Up" and "Natsuyume Noisy" for the anime series Summer Time Rendering. June 2023 saw the release of her third album, Who's Me, which debuted at number 72 on the Top 100 Albums chart in Japan.
