Antony Pitts is an English composer, conductor, and producer born on 24 March 1969 in Farnborough, Kent. In 1996, he received the Radio Academy BT Award for the early internet experiment Facing the Radio. He worked as a Senior Producer at BBC Radio 3 until 2005, winning the 2004 Prix Italia for the production A Pebble in the Pond. Pitts is the founder and director of the vocal ensemble TONUS PEREGRINUS, which specializes in sacred choral music. Under his direction, the ensemble released the albums Leonin / Perotin: Sacred Music from Notre-Dame Cathedral and Dunstable: Quam Pulchra Es / Veni Sancte Spiritus / Mass Movements on Hyperion Records in 2005. He held the position of Senior Lecturer at the Royal Academy of Music from 2006 to 2009. In 2011, he founded the record label 1equalmusic. Pitts succeeded Roland Peelman as Artistic Director of Australiaâs national vocal ensemble, The Song Company, in 2016. His compositions include the oratorio Jerusalem-Yerushalayim and the musical piece âLux Aeterna / Kontakion of the Departedâ.
