Biography

Andru Bemis is an American folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Carlsbad, New Mexico, born on April 12, 1978. Bemis performs on the banjo, violin, guitar, and banjolele. He began his recording career in 2001, releasing his debut studio album, Plays Past His Bedtime, in 2002. This was followed by the solo albums Singer (2004) and Rail To Reel (2006). Bemis has collaborated with Jason Webley on the EP How Big Is Tacoma (2006) and with Elisabeth Pixley-Fink on Say Yes To Yourself (2011). He has also appeared on recordings by Rachel Ries and Trent Wagler & Jay Lapp. Bemis maintains a minimalist lifestyle, touring primarily through public transportation and hitchhiking. Between 2007 and 2013, he operated the non-profit community venue Foundry Hall in South Haven, Michigan. He also serves as the host of the radio show Chenango Sessions.
