Akamardashâ was a Japanese female idol group active from 2013 to 2019, managed by Oscar Promotion. The unit was uniquely positioned as an âidol group that sings, dances, and eats,â and was born out of a commercial campaign for Toyo Suisanâs Maruchan Akai Kitsune to Midori no Tanuki, with actor Tetsuya Takeda acting as producer. The lineup originally included Marika Kitazawa, Nayu Onishi, Mari Tamaki, and Ayaka Kawamura. Their name and formation were officially revealed in September 2013 during a commercial broadcast. The group made their major debut under Nippon Columbia on October 22, 2014, with the single "Tabete, Waratte, Ikiteiku.", which also served as a theme song for a new CM campaign. The music was composed by Hyadain (Kenichi Maeyamada), with choreography by Papaya Suzuki, further boosting their pop-culture appeal. In 2016, Mari Tamaki graduated, followed by Ayaka Kawamura in April 2017. Akamardashââs cheerful and food-themed songs resonated with fans, especially tracks like "Wonderful âSmile"(2015), which embodied their playful and energetic image. The group officially disbandedâreferred to as âfinished eatingââon July 24, 2019, ending a six-year run filled with quirky charm and commercial tie-ins.
