Ajoy Chakrabarty, born on December 25, 1952, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, is a Hindustani classical vocalist and composer. He graduated top of his class in music from Rabindra Bharati University and joined the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in 1978 as its first scholar. Chakrabarty's early musical training included studies under Ajit Chakrabarty, Pannalal Samanta, Kanaidas Bairagi, Jnan Prakash Ghosh, Latafat Hussain Khan, Nibruttibua Sarnaik, Hirabai Barodekar, and M. Balamuralikrishna. His career began with the release of his album Je Shure Bajale in 1996. He has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Royal Albert Hall, and Queen Elizabeth Hall. Chakrabarty's notable singles include "Maa Jar Anandamayee" and "Kali Kali Bolo Rasana". He has received several awards, including the Padma Shri in 2011 and the Padma Bhushan in 2020.
